Botanical Etching

I recently spent 3 days getting my hands dirty in the etching studio at Camberwell College of Arts. Being such an involved process, it allows a depth and clarity of thinking that is easily lost with the speed of digital image-making. The responsiveness of the medium and detail produced in hard ground etching is incredible and the way it translates to a tactile print with texture and depth is very satisfying.

I used the opportunity to produce a botanical illustration for an invite to a wedding at Kew Gardens that I’m currently designing, as well as a couple of other experiments.
