This week marks the 10th anniversary of a personal

This week marks the 10th anniversary of a personally life-changing experience. In October 2014 I attended a course @schooloftraditionalarts called Geometry and the Order of Nature taught by Tom Bree which sent my life off in a new direction. It brought a focus and clarity to my creative practice which had previously remained dormant, spearheaded by an unwavering fascination (some would say relentless obsession) with geometric design and the endless techniques for the artistic application of these designs into physical and digital materials.

Over the last decade my work has brought me into contact with so many inspiring artists, students and collaborators, many of whom have become valued real world friends. It's also given me the opportunity to visit different parts of the world and to be involved in exciting creative projects. I am incredibly grateful to have this powerful component in my life to ground me and provide me with a consistent framework for understanding the world around me, reshaping this vision and sending it back out.

The course coincided with me starting this Instagram account where I have shared examples of my daily practice two or three times most weeks for a decade. This platform has played a central role in my ability to reach an audience and engage with a community, even though it has changed over the years and currently seems to have eroded the cohesive community aspect that once was it's main appeal. Nonetheless it has been an important part of my journey and has initiated countless essential conversations and relationships.

If you scroll back to the first post you can get a sense of my decade of creative geometric exploration. The well is far from exhausted and I imagine I'll still be doing this a decade from now if I'm still here.

In celebration and contemplation of this moment, I recreated this design from the mosque of Al Mu'ayyad Sheikh in Cairo, one of my favourite mosques with so many incredible examples of the art form I love so deeply. The ten interlocking circles effectively symbolise my journey so far.
